What is a Feng Shui Bracelet?
While a normal bracelet is a simple piece of jewelry, a Feng Shui Bracelet is usually an ornament with energetic properties that bring about auspicious energies. These bracelets are usually made of precious or semi-precious stones, crystals, and other materials that symbolize wealth or power.
Feng Shui Bracelet usually taps on the power of crystals or other materials' auspicious energy to enhance the wearer's luck. Different materials and bracelets designs will have varying purposes. Some of these jewelry pieces have protective qualities against bad luck, others attract positive energy, and some bringing about the energy of abundance and wealth. In this article, we will explore some of the Feng Shui bracelets in the market, the concept behind them, and how a bracelet can be more than just a lucky symbol.
Are bracelets only for ladies?
Certainly not! Some bracelet designs are targeted at men. A bracelet is just like any piece of jewelry. It is fairly common to see men wearing bracelets such as gold bracelets or beaded bracelets. Nevertheless, bracelets for men are usually fairly subtle in terms of design and colour compared to ladies' versions.
Feng Shui Bracelet - Just beads only?
Regarding Feng Shui bracelets, it is fairly common to associate that with rounded-bead bracelets made of crystals. While that is certainly one of the types of bracelets in the market, Feng Shui bracelet certainly goes beyond just rounded beads. A Feng Shui bracelet may contain different types of beads, including elongated, faceted-shaped, free-formed, and other interesting shapes.
Beyond the shapes, these bracelets will also have considerable variations in terms of the materials. As mentioned, a Feng Shui bracelet may contain precious or semi-precious stones, crystals, or jade stones. Each material's hardness and color open up to unique and special designs.

Besides beads, there could be other inclusions such as charms or other auspicious designs that are included to form part of the bracelet. Many times, such charm has a very specific meaning. Some could be mythical beasts in Chinese mythology that are guardians against misfortune; others could be symbols that are potent tools for adverting bad luck. There may be numerous benefits associated with the different charms, and they serve as a fantastic addition to one's bracelet. More of these will be elaborated in the following sections.
Concept of Feng Shui & Bazi in Bracelet Selection
The concept of Feng Shui and Bazi is incorporated into bracelet selection to ensure that the wearer can tap on the key benefits of the bracelet. Like the exact reason for lucky colour, favourable numbers and auspicious dates, a suitable Feng Shui bracelet usually factor multiple Feng Shui and Bazi principles to amplify its effects on its wearer.
Some may also associate these bracelets with the concept of Chakras bracelets. In this article, we will avoid touching on the concept of Chakra for the time being but do bear in mind that this is a separate school of thought.
Materials and Colour
Material and colour are discussed together in this section as most of the time, they are closely tied to one another. It is important to be well-versed in the concept of 5 elements Feng Shui before we elaborate more on this section. Just like the previous few articles which we touched on, one should have a clear idea about their own favourable element to better identify which types or which colour or bracelet is more suitable.
Crystals, precious and semi-precious stones, are usually common materials, and it is believed they contain mystical powers. As some might already know, certain crystals are associated with a specific element. For the benefit of everyone, we have created a simple and non-exhaustive list of different powerful stones and their corresponding elements.

Selecting the right material and colour is an essential aspect of the right bracelet for you. A black obsidian bracelet may be more suitable for warding off harmful energies as it is a stone of protection. Citrine, on the other hand, is a traditional symbol of wealth, and many would tap the power of crystals to design a bracelet for luck. For a Feng Shui bracelet to be effective, each crystal's special meaning may not be as critical as determining the right element for each individual. That being said, a black obsidian bracelet is primarily a bracelet of water element. If this element is not suitable for your Bazi, then perhaps its protection properties would be minimal.
Zodiac Based - San He & Liu He
It is also common for bracelets to incorporate the concepts of the Zodiac. The analysis of Zodiac compatibility may be a simplified way to enhance the luck of meeting noblemen. Noblemen (贵人) usually refers to meeting benefactors who can assist you in life, be it wealth, health, or relationship. A few common ways of Zodiac based bracelets include the concept of San He (三合) and Liu He (六合). Depending on one’s Zodiac, some bracelets will have one or more compatible zodiac charms to promote the effect of either San He or Liu He.
This concept has been exceptionally popular, especially with certain gold charms or gold-plated ornaments, in recent years. Some of the more major gold jewelry shops are selling San He or Liu He ornaments.
Mythical Animal
A common symbol with potent energy, mythical beast or mythical animals (灵兽/神兽) are commonly used in Feng Shui and also ornaments such as bracelets. These Mythical Animals have very different traits, which is why certain types of bracelets will adopt a specific type of mythical animal. A 3-legged wealth toad (三脚金蟾) may be used in a wealth bracelet, while a dragon turtle (龙龟) ornament may be included as part of a bracelet designed for protection.
The material and colour of these mythical animals will also alter their element. Therefore, a black obsidian Pixiu (貔貅) and a jadeite Pixiu (貔貅) may vary in terms of their based element. That, in turn, will affect a Feng Shui Bracelet's suitability for every individual.
There are a few common mythical animals that are used.

Pixiu (貔貅)
A mythical creature that is usually depicted as a winged lion. They are powerful protectors and are also believed to be a powerful symbol of wealth. In Chinese mythology, the female species of Pixiu known as Bixie (辟邪) is often used by Feng Shui practitioners to ward off evil and negative energies. It is also believed to assist anyone who has offended Tai Sui during the year (犯太岁). The male species of Pixiu is known as Tianlu (天禄). This mythical creature is believed to be attracted to wealth, especially gold and silver, often bringing their masters exceptional wealth. Sometimes, the pair is used in a Feng Shui setup to attract wealth and ward off negative energies (招财辟邪).
Golden Toad 三脚金蟾
Commonly known as Money Toad or Money Frog, the 3-legged golden toad is a mythical creature that attracts and protects wealth. Usually seen with coins in their mouth, the 3-legged golden toad will help their Masters to "bite" wealth. Positioning of the golden toad is essential. For Feng Shui Bracelet, the Golden Toad is a good wealth-inducing addition to a wealth bracelet.

Qi Lin 麒麟
A mythical creature that resembles the western counterpart of a unicorn, the Qi Lin (麒麟) is a legendary hooved chimerical creature that is said to appear with the imminent arrival or death of a sage or illustrious ruler. In Feng Shui, the Qi Lin is believed to be associated with success and peace. For residential Feng Shui, the mystical powers of a Qi Lin could be used to ensure harmonious energy within a residence and to ward off bad health. Qi Lin can also be included in a bracelet to ensure its wearer achieves career success and stronger relationships.
Dragon Turtle 龙龟
A mythical creature that has a hybrid of a dragon head with a turtle shell. The Dragon turtle offers protection and a good financial foundation to its Master. Feng Shui practitioners also regard the dragon turtle as one of the practical mythical creatures to ward against negative people (小人). The dragon turtle is sometimes associated with longevity; hence, it is no surprise that it is also used in bracelets to ward against bad health.
Other Accessories
There could be other accessories that facilitate the function of each Feng Shui Bracelet. For example, a miniature wealth bowl ornament within the bracelet could be used in a wealth bracelet primarily for increasing wealth for the owners. A calabash may be included in a bracelet, aimed at having good healing properties and warding off poor health. Green phantom quartz material accessories can be selected to promote a busy career, an ideal choice for business owners but not so for employees!
There are many auspicious symbols and items that may be included for various purposes. Selecting one that suits your Bazi will be key in ensuring its effectiveness.
How a Bracelet can improve one's luck?
Just like the concept of Feng Shui and Bazi, a bracelet, especially one with the power of crystals, will likely be more effective in encouraging the congregation of positive energies. Why crystals, you may ask? In Feng Shui, crystals and some semi-precious stones are believed to be effective tools to generate, amplify, or contain positive Qi (气). With science becoming ever more important, there is no scientific proof that crystals emit energy that can be meaningfully measured or significantly impact humans. Note that the words used are not conclusive.
"Meaningfully measured" and "Significant impact" show that even science cannot prove that crystals do not work. Interestingly, science agrees that crystals emit specific frequencies under pressure. This is why crystals such as quartz are used in modern ultrasound devices. The phenomenon is known as the piezoelectric effect, and ultrasonic waves are transmitted. We are no scientists, and more can be read in other articles documenting this.
As Feng Shui Practitioners, crystals are traditionally a very important option when implementing Feng Shui. These same principles apply to bracelets. Do note that crystals are usually expensive due to a certain surge in demand or a perceived aesthetical preference. For example, all clear quartz has the same properties from a Feng Shui perspective, but clear, minimal inclusion ones are preferred due to their "better looking" appearance. That will result in a much higher demand (and of course price) for a clear, minimal inclusion type of clear crystal quartz. The same usually applies to bracelets and their accompanying ornaments or accessories.
A bracelet is usually something that is in close proximity to the owner, and, from a Feng Shui perspective, that is part of the larger environment. Since we can’t alter the ever-changing environment when a person moves around, the next best alternative would be to work on what a person wears or carries. Like a portable amulet works, the bracelet will work the same way.
Cleansing of Crystals Ornament & Crystals
For the benefit of readers, we thought it would be appropriate to share a fair bit of knowledge regarding the cleansing of crystals. Do note that we do not sell any crystal ornaments.
Initial Purchase from suppliers
For All Crystals (Caves, Raw Stones & Accessories)
1st – Rinse them with tap water/distilled water/mineral water and pad them dry.
2nd – Cleanse your crystals by immersing them in the aroma/scent of Palo Santo (聖木) / Agar Wood (沉香). This process is known as smoke cleansing.
3rd – Allow your crystals to be exposed to mist droplets overnight (打雾水). You may place them on your balcony or by the window, but do remember to retrieve them in the morning.
Maintenance Steps
For Accessories like Bracelets, anklets, rings, earrings, pendants and chain
1st - After wearing, you may occasionally spray some Herkimer Diamond water on it. Herkimer diamond water refers to clean/distilled water with Herkimer diamond stones submerged within it. (Herkimer diamond is a type of crystal that is commonly used for cleansing). Pad dry thereafter.
2nd - Leave it on a 白水晶簇 (Raw Clear Quartz) for at least 20 minutes to cleanse.
3rd – To recharge your crystal accessories, you may place it in contact with an Amethyst crystal to rejuvenate its energy. Alternatively, you may continue to leave it on the 白水晶簇 (Raw Clear Quartz).
For Caves, Raw Stones, Ammonites(螺) and larger ornaments
1st – Cleanse your crystals by spraying Herkimer Diamond water. You may also opt for smoke cleansing Palo Santo (聖木) / Agar Wood (沉香).

3rd - For Raw stones, Amethyst Geodes, or larger ornaments, consider using a powder brush (New) to dust off. A clean cloth (New) with water is also fine. Do not use wet tissue.
Conclusion - Appropriate purchase
At Moon FengShui, we do not sell any Feng Shui bracelets. This article is not to promote any form of bracelet purchase, but rather, we hope to clarify some of our clients and followers' misconceptions or understanding about the Feng Shui bracelet. Although we believe that a Feng Shui Bracelet can improve one's luck, the price point of a bracelet does not determine its effectiveness.
A black obsidian is a black obsidian. As long as its composition is that of a black obsidian, the black obsidian bracelet should work fine. If you are pursuing aesthetic appearance, you may have to pay a higher price. Otherwise, there is no reason to purchase an overly high-priced Feng Shui bracelet.
We sometimes recommend clients on the suitability of certain bracelets. For a small fee, we can look at your Bazi and recommend a suitable type of bracelet that aligns with your life goals and Bazi. Do get in touch with us now!
